Prairie Blazing Star (Liatris pycnostachya) also called Thick-Spike Gay-Feather is a beautiful. The many flowers growing on the spike attract a large variety of pollinating insects. It is a popular addition to any garden, and there are several cultivars to choose from, but I think it is hard, perhaps impossible, to improve what nature has already done.
