Canada Bluejoint Grass (Calamagrostis canadensis) is a common to abundant species in sedge meadows, wet meadows, and low prairie.  It sometimes seems to be very evenly dispersed in sedge meadows as if someone deliberately planted it that way.  This grass ranges from 2 to 5 feet high.  From a distance, it looks something like Reed Canary grass, but does not form tall dense stands, and unlike reed canary grass it stands up in winter, giving it better cover for wildlife such as ring-necked pheasants and rabbits.
